Didn’t This Used To Be a Rivalry? Hough Dominates Chambers

The scoreboard at Chambers, a warning to all teams around Hough isn't playing around
The 8th-ranked Hough Huskies varsity football team took on the Chambers Cougars this Monday following a postponement caused by Hurricane Helene. Despite the delay, the Huskies put up a show and defeated the Cougars, crushing them 58-3.
Chambers had no hope of stopping Huskies Quarterback Trey Blakeney. He threw 3 touchdown passes and rushed for a touchdown in the first half alone. His main target, Sean Brady, had 3 receptions, 2 of which resulted in a touchdown for the Huskies. Blakeney credits a special connection with Brady on the field to the fact that they, “are seniors who have been playing together the last four years.” Jycen Anciso was another explosive player on offense. He picked up 49 yards as well as a touchdown in the first 12 minutes of play.
The Huskies defense was equally up to the task, allowing only 1 field goal through the full 48 minutes of play. Defensive end Cameron Cyr is a crucial part of the line. He has been on a tear this season, leading the Huskies’ defense with 8.0 sacks. Morgan Linton, Collin Hinds, and Rodrericus Council all recorded interceptions against the Cougars; Council took his back for a pick-six.
Those who watched last year’s closely contested matchup must have been perplexed to see the scoreboard last night. Last September, the Huskies only came out on top by a close six points, 19-13. Last night’s thrashing illustrated the gap dramatically widening between these two programs. Although the scores of this year’s game differ significantly from previous years, the victory is always special against the Huskies' rival. Blakeney told us “It’s always great to get to line up with Chambers, especially with our history with them. Being able to dominate them how we did makes it that much more special.”

The Huskies’ next game is this Friday, October 4th against West Mecklenburg High School. As this is one of the last home games of the season, the student section is expected to be packed. Come see your 8th-ranked Huskies in action at 7 pm in your favorite jersey!
